FPO
Sun Foundation strongly believes in collective farming to increase agricultural productivity with minimal cost of cultivation and to focus on the economic development of the farmer through farmer producer organization.
Farmer producer organization:
Group of farmers who are cultivating or producing similar produce at village level called as farmer producers group
Mandal level consolidation of all such farmer producer groups into one farmer producer organization (FPO)
Process of formation FPO by sun Foundation
- Identification of small and marginal farmers who are cultivating the same crop or producing at village level
- Creation of farmer producer group with 15 to 20 identified farmers
- These former producer groups again at Mandal level to form farmer producer organization
- Sun Foundation supports FPO in the registration process as a legal entity and to get benefits from the various government subsidy schemes.
Management of FPO by sun Foundation:
- Providing Training on innovative management practices in farming, field visit, and awareness on effective utilization of farm machinery by involving eminent Agricultural scientists.
- Supporting to achieve higher productivity with the minimum cost of cultivation by purchasing quality seeds fertilizers and pesticides collectively at a low cost
- Helping the FPO to conduct meeting at regular intervals to decide on opening and maintenance of savings bank account
- Sun foundation Saves the farmers from high-interest rate debt trap and helps FPO to get financial support from banks and projects
- Helping to get access to various government subsidy schemes
